Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act was enacted to eliminate barriers in information technology, make available new opportunities for people with disabilities, and encourage development of technologies that will help achieve these goals. BAE Systems, in turn, supports the importance of adhering to these accessibility guidelines and standards for all users of its Geospatial eXploitation Products^™ (GXP^®) software.

There are several methods for completing an Accessibility Conformance Report (ACR). The Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT^®), which is a template developed by the IT Industry Council (ITI), is the most common method as it provides all the relevant Section 508 Technical Standards as well as instructions on how to complete a report in one tool. VPATs, which include alignment to Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, describe the conformance level for accessibility features, Functional Performance Criteria, and evaluation methods used for each of the standard evaluation items.
